About Me

My photo
I have been a racing fan for nearly 30 years, first starting when my grandmother (who lived in Louisville, Kentucky) took me to the 100th running of the Kentucky Derby at historic Churchill Downs. But it has been in the last 20 years that my interest has turned more "serious" as a handicapper.

Day 2 Results: October 22

A mixed bag today - certainly most disappointing....AGAIN....were my "best" bets failed to score.  It also didn't help my ROI for the day that my best score at 6/1 was a non-investment race.

Got started on the winning track in the 2nd when my selections (6-7-1) ran 1-2-3.  Nice that the runner-up was the 4/5 favorite and my pick Gladding won the race by open lengths paying a generous $9.60.
My "BEST" of the day was in race 3 as Sweet in the City went off at 4/5.  She seemed home free in the final 100 yards when my "unknown factor" and third choice #7-General Guti came flying by to upset her....sigh
It was little consolation that my top three picks were again the trifecta numbers :(

My advice for the 4th was to "run away" as it was a bad race.....my top pick walked with it at even money!

After running 3rd in my next investment race, my top pick in the 6th was Yellow Brick Road.  Won the race at a very nice 6/1 - unfortunately it was a non-investment race.  With the "Pass" here I passed up my profits for the day..... sigh, again......

In the upset of the day I led to the top of the stretch, then faded.  In the 8th it was another turf race and I went with the Frank Calabrese owned runner.  Didn't disappoint as the chalk - Horray!  Too bad it was the minimum investment.....

In my next added investment race I just had a bad feeling when I picked her.....but not only did I side with her, I made her an added investment selection and Pink Gloss didn't even hit the board in the 9th.

And so I closed Day 2 with a total of four winners from eleven races - well over 30%....excellent numbers; and for the investment races I nailed three winners from six races.  Excellent percentage of 50%.  But the management of the money did in my profit line.

A big card again tomorrow.  Let's get some more winners!
