About Me

My photo
I have been a racing fan for nearly 30 years, first starting when my grandmother (who lived in Louisville, Kentucky) took me to the 100th running of the Kentucky Derby at historic Churchill Downs. But it has been in the last 20 years that my interest has turned more "serious" as a handicapper.

Day 1 Results: October 21

For the eight races I handicapped I came away with three wins, a 38% win percentage.  I'll take it.  For the races I recommended an investment (and I made the investments on twinspires.com) I won 2 of 5, 40% winners!  I invested $50 and netted $58.00.  A tidy little profit for the first day!

I was particularly happy with the results as all three of my investments which I had more confidence, and more money riding on the outcome, did NOT win.  And two of my selections were made for the turf....and in spite of the continued beautiful weather the races were off the turf.

My first winner was my first investment - in the 3rd Usain Again who was allowed to slip off at a generous 6/1.  Essentially that made my day :)

I missed with all three up-the-investment races when one came off the turf and two of them ran very poorly.  But in the second race scheduled for the turf that I had an investment in, I scored at a nice 7/2 price - Folia was much the best in the 6th.
You'll notice that in my selections I'd picked - in order:  4-8-5.  The finish was 4-8-5.  A $1 investment would have netted $139.10!  Go me!

At the end of the racing week I'll post my totals and compare them to Daily Racing Form's handicapper for South Florida, Mike Welsch.  I'll continue to do this throughout the meet.

A good day indeed!
